Fish Reproduction & Endocrinology
My research interests are in the endocrine regulation of development and reproduction in teleost fish. My lab’s general focus has been on the regulation of steroid production and on the role of steroid hormones in regulating processes such as metamorphosis, the stress response and gonad development. The current work of the lab is directed towards determining the mechanisms that regulate early oogenesis (oogonial proliferation, meiosis onset and primary growth). We are also studying the effects of contaminants on reproduction in fish, focusing on chemicals of emerging concern, and are developing an in vitro methods for high throughput screening of potential endocrine disrupting contaminants.
