Cougar Orientation and Leadership Experience

Important Information

Aug 17-19, 2020
Ross Point Camp & Conference Center
Post Falls, Idaho

Ross Point is a in a beautiful setting and has a great deal to offer our incoming students.  There is an outstanding swimming beach, canoeing, and volleyball available outside.  There are pool and foosball tables in the downstairs game room.  There is room to run or hike during free time, and plenty of room to sit in the shade or in a comfortable chair indoors to watch the Spokane River.  Be aware that since this is originally a childrens’ camp, students will be sleeping together in rustic cabins with bunk beds.  Although each cabin has one restroom, there are several additional restrooms with showers available in the main building.  Please come prepared with ear plugs, shower sandals, and anything else that will help you adapt to two days of close quarters.  Take advantage of cabin time to get to know your classmates!

Typical weather conditions during mid-August are warm, sunny days and cool evenings interspersed with a rare thunderstorm. Check ahead to the weather in Post Falls, ID and bring clothing that will keep you comfortable during the retreat experience.

Please note:  The Conference Center is designed to provide retreat services to adults and children alike.  It is owned and operated by the Baptist Church and you may encounter Christian symbols or posters in rooms or spaces around the camp.  Do not interpret this to mean that the CVM promotes one religious belief over another.  However, given that the Center is a faith-based retreat facility, we ask attendees to exhibit appropriate respect and decorum while in spaces that may also serve as worship facilities.  In addition, please observe the rules that Center administrators will outline for you upon arrival—most importantly DO NOT bring any alcoholic beverages or illicit substances onto the Center’s property.

  • Get to know classmates
  • Build a strong support community

We urge you to take full advantage of this opportunity to strengthen both your connection to your new community and your ability to thrive and succeed in your training and in the veterinary profession.
